About Chris

Chris Goldthorpe

I have trained many national grade-level champions as well as a Pan-Am Under 10 1st place, and many students that were on the top 10 list by age.

I have introduced thousands to the process of learning and improving their chess systematically, and effectively. I have gone over, move by move, thousands of games played between players of all ages and have seen how they think and how they win and lose. I know how players think at different levels, and how their level of Interest and dedication affect their level of satisfaction and success. I know which decisions affect practical results against your peers. I have worked with schools and other institutions with behind the scenes details of administering and maintaining all types of chess programs.

I am the trainer you choose when quality and time effectiveness matter.

Mission Statement

To establish a business based on a defined methodology for providing a better value in instruction, based upon measurable progress.

⦁ Honest, objective consistant testing and statistical feedback
⦁ Realistic goal setting and testing
⦁ Customizing instruction for each individual giving them exactly
what is most effective for impacting their performance.
We brag about the success of our students – our track record!

Vision

To have a chess instruction business that survives it's current ownership and influences not just chess and math education, but all education.

Group chess education is possible when the individuals in the group are actually learning what they should be. In many environments students are pretending to understand what they do not fully and usefully understand. Often there is an insuffient system of providing feedback to know where each student is at. Students need to be regularly challenged and tested (with archived documentation) to know, and communicate where they are currently at. This business should also utilize not just the very best chess players, but the instructors who are best at instructing players that need to understand something the instructor understands, when that is the one thing that will have the greatest impact on their real practical results. You do not need expert, or even class A level players to (for example) teach the basics of pawn endings. A 1200 level player does not need a GM to help him memorize technical variations in an opening, they need proper tactics training, and not random puzzles on a server or a paperback book, but rather tailored to their detailed individual experience (and games, and openings)
